Yosh is not Jewish as some believe. He is, however, given to debate with the Jews on occasion. The following link is a transcript of one such debate

I find arguing about religion a complete waste of time.

When you come down to it, it's a matter of faith.

You either believe or you do not and noone can make you.

Catholics believe that the Roman Catholic faith is the "ORDINARY means of salvation" but not the only one.

In other words if you follow the Catholic routine and practice it
daily you will avoid Hell which is surely a REAL place.

Although the bible is very vague on this subject it's patently obvious to me that a Jew who beleives and follows his faith will not go to hell.

Therefore there is no need to convert Jews. If I knew a Jew who was interested in learning about Catholicism I'd gladly help them.

The people that need conversion are those who have rejected Jesus or who are "christians in name only". They know the bible and about the Saints and the Virgin Mary and they CHOOSE to ignore it.

If a person has never had faith in the Lord and is leading a good virtuous life he will not go to Hell no matter what religion he happens to practice.

Aggressive evangelizing of Jews or anyone else is totally counter-productive. It gives christianity a bad name and is useless anyway.

If someone is interested in Catholicism I'd discuss it with them but that's it. It's up to them to choose or not to choose to be Catholic.

I've found the most evil folks are the ones that think they are good Catholics but are actually leading a debased worldy and unrepentent life. Constantly rebuking the Church and scoffing at the laws that have worked for 2000 years.

I'll take a good satanist (who has never truly known about Catholicism) any day over some of the people that call themselves Catholic.

The satanist is acting from ignorance whereas the apostate Catholic is in full-rebellion against God and has full knowledge of the evil they represent.

Jesus died for everyone, protestants, Jews, Budhists, moslems.

I believe a person can lead a good life as a Jew or protestant having never accepted the Roman Catholic faith and they surely will not go to hell.

The Church and the Bible are really silent on this but I believe this is what most religous have believed over the last 2000 years. Most priests I've known have stated it this way.

torah man
the people in the linked debate were just people who came with all of the problems that people carry around. the motivation to open a topic like that is ill-conceived.

i only skimmed your opponent's comments in that debate and they did not understand even the slightest of what the torah really says.

Every human being has a personaly set of tasks to perform in this creation as defined in the Torah. Everyone should become familiar with their own personal responsibility and not be concerned with making people switch clubs so to speak.

The Torah does allow for it but it is not done as a matter of course, without other overriding considerations.

As I have said before, the Torah and the purpose of creation is about living here and now aligned with the Divine purpose. What happens before or after is only extraneous if one is not willing to be small to the purpose of creation and their personal responibility.

Well, There's much to be said for the modern Christian's use of the subtle persuasive arts. I so miss the Inquisition and the Crusades though! biggrin.gif

Dogboy, Catholics, Protestants, Jehovah's witness's all tried to convert me. I immersed myself in the writings of some of the Christian writers, to no avail. It seems that under the gorgeous baroque writings of the great Christians lies a fear of God. The bible presents a creator who exercises judgement with the moral clarity of a garden bug zapper. Behind the filagreed feeling, honest yearning, sincere repentance of many Christians I sense doubt and confusion.

That aside, what's true is an entirely different question. I wonder if Jesus was like Gandalph in the movie "The Twin Towers". That was great. The trinity, and the son of God sounds loopy to me though.

I think that life transcends death and that mobsters, for example, go to a place after death, that they sort of like. I would view it as Hell, though. We are drawn to areas of the heavens that correspond to our affections, beliefs and personalities. Its not a punishment or a reward. Its probably freely chosen, and self reinforcing. This has taken me years to sort out, and it might be wrong, dammit. Who knows?

If God approves of anyone, he probably likes good hearted atheists best. They are good and kind just because they believe in goodness and kindness and aren't motivated by fear of eternal punishment or desire for any eternal reward.

Yosh, Have you considered changing your name to clear up some of the confusion? You could throw everyone a huge curve ball with something like "Bhupinder Dhalliwall".
