Well, There's much to be said for the modern Christian's use of the subtle persuasive arts. I so miss the Inquisition and the Crusades though!
Dogboy, Catholics, Protestants, Jehovah's witness's all tried to convert me. I immersed myself in the writings of some of the Christian writers, to no avail. It seems that under the gorgeous baroque writings of the great Christians lies a fear of God. The bible presents a creator who exercises judgement with the moral clarity of a garden bug zapper. Behind the filagreed feeling, honest yearning, sincere repentance of many Christians I sense doubt and confusion.
That aside, what's true is an entirely different question. I wonder if Jesus was like Gandalph in the movie "The Twin Towers". That was great. The trinity, and the son of God sounds loopy to me though.
I think that life transcends death and that mobsters, for example, go to a place after death, that they sort of like. I would view it as Hell, though. We are drawn to areas of the heavens that correspond to our affections, beliefs and personalities. Its not a punishment or a reward. Its probably freely chosen, and self reinforcing. This has taken me years to sort out, and it might be wrong, dammit. Who knows?
If God approves of anyone, he probably likes good hearted atheists best. They are good and kind just because they believe in goodness and kindness and aren't motivated by fear of eternal punishment or desire for any eternal reward.
Yosh, Have you considered changing your name to clear up some of the confusion? You could throw everyone a huge curve ball with something like "Bhupinder Dhalliwall".
