They do care about lining up for loans to buy the latest nonsense. Like SubZero Refrigeration units, Roman spa master bathrooms, etc. This cannot end well. The karma of all this is hideous and dooming. It makes no sense. Only comes together with historical comparisons. The excesses under King Louis before the Revolution come to mind as do of course the excesses of the roaring twenties and the later stages of the Roman Empire. An aggressive and ongoing nuclear program adds tremendous fuel to this fire. To think these Strangeloves are designing low yield nukes as bunker busters. It will end badly.

Picked up a Forbes this morning in a medical waiting room. Advertisements for the chic and noveau rich are everywhere. That crook Steve Jobs has now shape shifted into the real estate business and bought up 300 vacation ranches for the fat and obscenely lazy who for 375,000 can join a club and with dues of about 15 to 20 grand a year can vacation at turn key faux homes around the world and be coddled by slave labor servants who do everything but wipe their asses for them. This is a degenrate and deeply self-centered culture who's real god is greed and it is teetering on the edge of some great cultural abyss. People are hog-wild over some incident on American Idol but they can't be bothered by the ongoing bloody body count and the leveling of Fallujah or by the exit polls which clearly had Kerry winning in a landslide. VEry,very sick times indeed.

To everyone I recommend that you run out and see "Kingdom of Heaven" this weekend. As clear an indictment of the present insanity as I have seen in these dark times of fear and silence. buddha

As usual Budda, your posts are right on. Especially on the greed of Americans. We have become narcissistic, self-centered and lazy.

The fact that we are the fattest society in the world shows how hedonistic we have become.

As world oil production peaks (this summer should be very interesting) people will have trouble paying for their contemptuous, conspicuous purchases that require tons of cheap oil to run.

Arrogance will turn to shock, then from shock to fear.

Housing will be the final confin nail that seals the deal.

And I always wonder if it is different this time, or if it was always like this.
Maybe the world was always the realm of the greedy/mighty/etc.
The struggle between them and the more "sensitive" people has been and shall be the struggle for mankind. And I'm not sure the sensitive folks will win. In other words, just because they seem mean, selfish, and morally bankrupt it doesn't mean that they will fall. There are other ways to fail. You will have children who eat your inheritance and spit on your grave. But in general, just cause you're an asshole you aren't going to fail.
Or at least that's what I suspect.
