After a new high for the retrace rally on the dow and being within knocking distance of another high on the SPX, the 5 and 8 day cycles rolled over Friday afternoon as Moon squared Venus.

Tuesday February 21

Exact:

Moon oppose Mars at 12:40 am. Impusiveness and impatience, possibly to the point of brief panic. Can be in either direction. lasts 1/2 day and will likely play out in the overnight futures. This triggers Sun square Mars.

Moon square Uranus at 4:30 pm. Moon-Uranus aspects often manifest as volatility within a range. The square can have a cranky/bearish effect for 1/2 day. Look for a weak close.

In orb:

Sun square Mars. Often manifests as fits and starts within a trend. Can also be a reversal signature, but can be prone to false starts due to imaptience. This came into orb late last week and we saw the DOW move to new highs for the retrace rally from the 2002/2004 lows. The SPX is within knocking distance of new highs as well and several sectors look poised for break-outs. We need to look at the other aspects following this aspect to determine if this move is real. So far, they do look supportive of continuation after a quick pullback.

Mercury sextile Venus. Positive news related to valuations and earnings.

Mercury trine Jupiter. Good news. Often a rally continuation signature.

Jupiter square Neptune. Too much optimism. Often followed by disappointment. Liqudity is an issue as is inflation. These do not need to manifest immediately. Rather the seeds can be sown for something that will be realized later.

Wednesday February 22

Exact:

Moon square Mercury at 1:15 pm. News.

Moon conjunct Pluto at 9 pm. Manipulative. Often a head-fake or reversal to force traders out of position before the trend resumes. Should take effect late in the session. Perhaps we see the 5-8 day cycle lows early due to the 3 day weekend effect.

In orb:

Sun square Mars.
Mercury sextile Venus.
Jupiter square Neptune.

Astro playing out pretty much as expected.

The Moon conjunct Pluto head-fake/reversal came earlier in the day, but with Moon square Mercury on deck, no surprise, since Mercury often manifests early.

Looks like a double Pluto effect yesterday and this morning.

1) fake out down yesterday monring.
2) rally.
3) weak close and take down after hours and Thursday morning.
4) ??????

We have a mish-mash of alternating offsetting directions on many of the shorter term cycles (<= 13 days) .

Tuesday was a Pluto day and we saw a fake to the upside before the big players brought the house down for the day. The QQQQ is sitting just above the lower channel line on the daily chart around $41. Should that break the lower channel line on the weekly chart comes in around $40.

With Mercury going retro, Mercury square Pluto will be with us all week and will be exact again on Saturday.

Mercury is in an intersolar phase (between the Earth and Sun) and Mercury will also be retrograde by Friday. We could see choppy markets with failure to follow through to both the down side and upside. Price may sit in the bear flag on the QQQQ daily charts for a while .

Monday March 6

Exact:

Moon conjunct Mars at 12:55 am. Impulsive moves in either direction, often to the point of brief trading panic. That last two early Monday am Moon-Mars aspects spawned overnight futures rallies.

Moon square Uranus at 5:44 am. Moon-Uranus aspects usually manifest as volatility within a range. The effect lasts 1/2 a day. The square can manifest as crankiness/bearishness so a weak open is likely.

Jupiter square Neptune.

Tuesday March 7

Pluto (26 Sagitarius), Moon (25 Gemini), Mercury (25 Pices) T-Square. Components are Mercury square Pluto, Moon square Mercury and Moon oppose Pluto. this should be a highly manipulative day with heqd-fakes and reversals. Limit exposure.

Obviously we have offsetting aspects for much of early March. Mercury is also intersolar and retrograde. This will liekly be a volatile environment, but we may not see much in the way of net change.

One thing of interest is that heavy pluto aspects, especially the lingering Mercury square Pluto, are usually negative for gold and silver, but it has not played out this way at all. We may be witnessing a major inflection point. The question is whether the gold/silver advance ocntinues once Sun conjuct Uranus is out of orb.

I mainly trade the QQQQ. So far the weekly uptrend channel is intact. The current daily uptrend channel is also in tact. We closed Thrusday March 3 in the middle of this range.

Friday March 4 has Moon square Venus overnight (bearish, but not a heavy aspect) and Moon square Saturn (very bearish) in the afternoon. We should see some kind of low by the close.

Moon square Mars at 6:50 pm. Impulsive moves in either or both directions, sometimes to the point of brief trading panic. Lasts 1/2 day. Watch for breakdowns in communications and electronics. Particularly quote feeds and trading systems. Triggers Mars square Uranus.

Should be a wild afternoon!

In orb:

Mercury trine Jupiter. Positive/expansive news/thought.

Mars square Uranus. Reckless courage. Can manifest as a rally to the point of excess. This can also be train-wreck astro (sometimes literally) and usually includes at least one bout of panic selling. It looks like the later manifestation played out last week.

Jupiter square Neptune. Positve to the point of excess. Too much optimism as a set up for later disappointment.

Ray Merriman mentions that Mercury is in Sagittarius Monday through Wednesday this week. (Geocentric rather than heliocentric--the later will happen in early April.) This can correlate with sharp short-term reversals--particularly in silver, currencies and T-bonds.

Monday March 20

In orb:

Mercury square Mars. Action without forethought. Can result in trading panic. Avoid making mistakes and watch for opportunities to capitalize on mistakes made by others.

Jupiter square Neptune. Positve to the point of excess. Too much optimism as a set up for later disappointment.

Henry Weingarten at the very end of his Trading by the Stars recording for March 17 mentioned that he expects today to be a down day. He didn't say why, but George ure at reports that the Index of Leading Econimic Indicators (LEI) unexpectedly dropped for February.

There was a 7 billion repo add today, but that is more than absorbed by the U$ury™ auction.

The 13 day cycle proxy (105 minute bars) looks to be topping this afternoon.

Tuesday March 21

Mars (16 Gemini), Moon (16 sagitarius), Mercury (13 Pisces) T-Square.

Exact:

Moon square Uranus at 1:45 am. Moon-Uranus aspects usually manifest as volatility within a range, but the square can be down-right cranky/bearish. Lasts 1/2 dqay. Should play out over-night.

Moon square Mercury at 5:45 am. News

Moon oppose Mars at 10:45 am. Impulsiveness, often to the point of brief trading panic. Can be in either or both directions.

In orb:

Jupiter square Neptune. Positive to the point of excess. Too much optimism as a set up for later disappointment.

Expect news driven volatility/impulsiveness.

The 13 day cycle looks to be topping (as of 2:25 pm Monday afternnon), but there could be one more impulse move up being that the 3 day cycle botommed Friday afternoon and the 5 day cycle botommed Monday. If the 8 day cycle also bottoms, we will see some short covering.

We could also see an immediate impulse move down with this astro. I am leaning on down, but it is best to avoid large commitments and be prepared to react. I currently have 10 April 42 QQQQ puts and 10 April 33 XLF puts.

Wednesday March 22

Exact:

Moon conjunct Pluto at 5:50 am. Big players in control. Watch for head-fakes and reversals. Last 1/2 day so will likely play out in the overnight futures and early trading.

In orb:

Mercury conjunct Uranus. Surprising news/announcements. Technological change/breakthroughs. Often trend acceleration in a positive mode.

Venus trine Mars. Passion. A surge in price to over-valuation.

Mars trine Neptune. Often minor in impact, but this time it triggers more powerful aspects. Underhanded tactics. Subtle guidance/price support.

Jupiter square Neptune.

Thursday March 23

Exact:

3 minor aspects are exact. These trigger more significant aspects.

Moon sextile Uranus at 7:36 am. Increased volatility, but range-bound.

Moon sextile Mercury at 10 am. News/announcements.

Moon sextile Jupiter at 6:30 pm. Positive.

In orb:

Sun trine Saturn. Karma. This can be a "wall of worry" aspect with a combination of caution and nerve evident.

Mercury conjunct Uranus.

Venus trine Mars.

Venus square Jupiter. Lushness. Stock prices move to overvalued.

Jupiter square Neptune.

Friday March 23

Exact:

Moon oppose Saturn at 9:50 pm. Usually negative for 1/2 day. I would expect the final hour or two of trading to be weak.

In orb:

Sun trine Saturn.
Mercury conjunct Uranus.
Venus trine Mars.
Venus square Jupiter.

Venus conjunct Neptune. Seduction and sacrifice. Watch for dip buyers and currency issues.

Jupiter square Neptune.

As of Monday evening (3/20), the 3 day cycle proxy looks to be rolling over, the 5 day has turned up, the 8 day s till has downside and the 13 day has topped or is close to topping. The astro for Wednesday through mid Friday looks positive so we may see one more move up for the current 13 day cycle or for it to hang together until Friday afternoon. Tuesday is a key day so we need to see how the Mars, Moon, Mercury T-square plays out.
anotherone
The Mars impulse was to the upside after a fake to the downside. INTC finally broke above $20. QQQQ still having trouble at $42 as I write this around 11:45 am Tuesday. The 8 day cycle bottomed. Combined with the 5 day it will give the 13 day more time to the upside.

DJX made a new high for the move, but SPX and NDX have not followed. at least not yet. XLF looks week in comparison to the techs.
anotherone
Whew. blink.gif Glad I held my puts. smile.gif Looks like the Mars impulse/panic effect was bi-directional today. Tomorrow (Wedenesday 3/22) is a Pluto day and perhaps we got some of it today. The shorts got squeezed and the longs got slughtered as well. Pluto has em both upside down by the ankles and is shaking loose all the change. Tomorrow Pluto will probably turn over the furniture looking for change under the cushions. laugh.gif
anotherone
Looks like the 8 day cycle is about to turn as of the close on Thursday (March 23). The 13 day cycle could turn on Friday. Moon oppose Saturn may come too late in the evening to have much of an effect, except perhaps late in the session. In any event the down phase of the 13 day cycle looks to have been a bull flag.
anotherone
Saturday March 25

Exact:

Sun trine Saturn at 2 am. Caution and nerve. Often a "wall of worry aspect".

Venus square Jupiter at 7 am. Positive, often indicating a short-term overvalued situation.

Mercury Direct Station at 8:45 am.

Mars trine Neptune at 8:55 am. Underhanded tactics. Usually minor in impact.

Moon square Jupiter at 8:20 pm. Positive and toppy.

Moon conjunct Venus at 9:20 pm. Profit taking for 1/2 day.

Moon conjunct Neptune at 9:40 pm. Weakness on confusion. watch oil and pharma.

In orb:

Mercury conjunct Uranus. Surprising news. Breakthroughs in thechnology. Often trend continuation/acceleration in a rally.

Venus trine Mars. Agressiveness in affection. Often a situaiton with overvaluation.

Venus conjunct Neptune. Seduction and sacrifice. Often dip buying.

Jupiter square Neptune. Optimism without a sound fundamental basis. Can be inflationary.

Sunday March 26

Exact:

Venus conjunct Neptune at 1:30 am. Seduction and sacrifice. Often dip buying.

Venus trine Mars at 9:40 pm. Agressiveness in affection. Often a situation with overvaluation. Look for positive price action in the overnight futures. At least early on.

In orb:

Sun trine Saturn.
Mercury conjunct Uranus.
Venus square Jupiter.
Mars trine Neptune.
Jupiter square Neptune.

Monday March 27

Exact:

Moon conjunct Uranus at 11:05 am. Volatility within a range. Should be a day with no significant net change in price. Triggers Mercury conjunct Uranus so watch the techs.

Moon conjunct Mercury at 1 pm. News.

In orb:

Mercury conjunct Uranus.
Venus trine Mars.
Venus conjunct Neptune.
Mars trine Neptune.
Jupiter square Neptune.

Tuesday March 28

Exact:

Moon square Mars at 12:14 am. Impulsive, often to the point of brief trading panic. Can be in either direction or both. Likely an overnight futures ramp-up based on the positive astro form the weekend and Monday. Watch for breakdowns in communications and trading systems.

Moon square Pluto at 10:20 am. Manipulation. Big players in control. Watch for head-fakes and reversals which sounds normal for a Fed day--at least under Greenspan's tenure. Lasts 1/2 day, but is close enough to Thursday's Solar eclipse to warrant longer term attention with Pluto making a retrograde station the day of the eclipse.

In orb:

Mercury conjunct Uranus.
Venus trine Mars.
Mars trine Neptune.
Jupiter square Neptune.

Since this is a Fed day, let's look at some intraday angles:

Saturn conjunct Ascendant at 1:40 pm. Usually a negative. The thing to watch is when it will is priced in.

Neptune conjunct Descendant at 2:55 pm. Usually confusion and/or disappointment.

Venus conjunct Decendant at 3:15 pm. Focus on value.

Jupiter conjunct Nadir at 3:30 pm. Expansive. Can respresent inflation or an intraday high/overbought situtation.

Wednesday March 29

Solar Eclipse begins at 2:36 am, but is not visible in North America. Aspects to the Moon and/or Sun the day of the eclipse or within a 2-3 day window may give indications the impact. Henry Weingarten has been predicting that the DOW will be below 10,000 within 90 days of this eclipse. I think we could see price continue to rise into May considering a Mars, Jupiter, Uranus Grand Trine early in the month.

Also note the the Israeli election falls on the 28th and we may see a reaction on the 29th. The path of the eclipse goes through that part of the world.

New Moon at 5:15 am.

Pluto Retrograde Station at 7:40 am.

In orb:

Mercury conjunct Uranus.
Venus trine Mars.
Jupiter square Neptune.

Thursday March 30

Exact:

Moon square Saturn at 11:16 pm. Usually a strong negative for at least 1/2 day. This may impact late afternoon trading. The Moon-Saturn and Moon-Jupiter aspects after a long hiatus are once again falling during the week. This will provide plenty of swing set-ups going forward. This may also be a strong negative in terms of eclipse impact.

In orb:

Mercury conjunct Uranus.
Venus trine Mars.
Jupiter square Neptune.

Friday March 31

Exact:

Moon oppose Jupiter at 9:38 pm. Positive and toppy. We should see a late afternoon rally. For a quick swing trade, we want to buy Saturn at Thursday's close or early Friday and sell on Jupiter at Friday's close or Monday.

In orb:

Jupiter square Neptune.
