Not a lot happening today. All Ords -0.2% while sectors wallow around, going nowhere. Consumer Staples is the highest, +0.6% and IT is down the most, -1.4%.
In the miners, BHP and RIO down but the golds up although the latter showing less than 1% gains.
Oils are down on low volume.
Generally up in Asia..

Mexico 1st-Qtr GDP Grew at Fastest Pace in 5 Years April 26 (Bloomberg) -- Mexico's economy grew at the fastest pace in five years in the first quarter as exports surged and domestic demand picked up, the central bank's chief economist said. More working days in the period compared with a year ago helped boost the growth figure, he said.
The rate of economic growth quickened to 5.2 percent in the first quarter from 2.7 percent in the fourth, the central bank said today in its quarterly inflation report.

Uranium price tipped to reach $100/lb
[miningmx.com] -- NEARLY two billion people don’t have access to electricity. In fact, roughly half of Africa’s fuel requirements are satisfied by biomass (burning wood). But that’s going to change, according to the World Nuclear Association (WNA).
The WNA forecasts a 40% jump in worldwide electricity demand over the next five years, with some of the increase stemming from China and India. It believes nuclear power could reduce the strain on fossil fuels, estimated to have a life of about 300 years, to bridge that gap. Though estimates vary, planned new nuclear facilities range between 30 to more than 150 before 2050.
That’s one reason the price of uranium oxide, crucial in the production of nuclear power, has shot through the roof. From about $10/lb several years ago, uranium oxide now costs about $38/lb. Sprott Asset Management says that the price could increase well in excess of $100/lb, according to an interview with StockInterview.com, an Internet publication

Quite a drop off into close which doesn't show up on the 5-day chart being as we actually close at 4.15 pm not 4 pm (you listening Yahoo?). All Ords finished -0.5% and it looks like it might be setting up for another leetle fall tomorrow but we'll see. A fairly gloomy day all round with Materials and IT in equal last place, -1.5%. Telecom, one of the few green sectors, appears to be attempting an uptrend, +1%.
All the gold producers up to some degree but BHP and RIO took hits, both down around 2%. Not much action in the specs, marking time basically.
The Energy sector closed -1% thanks to Woodside and Caltex. Juniors finished flat to down.
Over in Asia, Honkers and India both up and about, +0.9% with the others showing lesser gains.
And on to UK/Europe:

To me, this is proof that the Fed has no concern for inflation and there real fear is DEFLATION.
Gasoline at $3/gal, gold above $600, etc., etc. and he is gonna fire up the printing presses???

Show indexes green as grass, yet NYSE A/D is still 3-1 neg and Nazz A/D 3-2 neg. Don't see that every day. Must be tons o' futures buying to prop.
Expected a low today or tomorrow for trad first week of May bonerama. First day of month usually quite bullish for Dow, none more so than May. Dow is up more on first day of May historically than any other month...and not by a small margin. So be on the lookout if we go lower into tomorrow.
Still short RUT from the top, looking for a nearterm bottom at either 754 or 749. Got to 755 this morning. May see a minor new low with accompanying pos div on the s/t charts to set up an upside fling next week.
Don't forget the big gaps still remaining from last weeks boner: RUT 749-754, SPX 1285-1291. Maybe those get filled prior to a legit upside attempt.
For those following the 1932-1937 template (as some seem to be doing), the market made a significant low on the last day of Apr 1936 before a big rally. We could be seeing an echo here.
