looks to me like some shares are bottoming and others are in later stages of wave 3 up. all dogs will bark, as the market continues its parabolic towards 800 in the 1st quarter. no margin. just fasten your seat belt and hold on. w/a fleet in the persian gulf and one in the red sea, there is tension and this isnt lost on folks in the region.
also, w/the economy slowing (evidenced by the gdp released friday) something is going to have to give. the economy is the one spot where the administration is pointing to as a success story. is volker the fed head or is it bernake?! what is your guess for the outcome. dharma

"RENO, NV (Mineweb.com) --Teck Cominco executives Tuesday forecast that world zinc stocks will contain only 11 days of supply by the end of this year, and may sink so low that it could “constrain metals consumption.”
In a conference call to discuss third-quarter financial results, the Vancouver-based miner also noted that lead LME stocks have declined to only two days of global consumption. "

But with so many miners showing price trendline breakouts, MACD positive divergeces and subsequent moves above the zero line, and Aroon and P&F breakouts---why try to catch a falling knife?
faramir
Nov 3 2006, 08:08 AM
Yeah, there are a few falling knives out there. I own some of them
I figure many of them will not get active until 360+. Sometimes it seems we actually have to see new territory each medium gold rally before some of the pennies move off their lows.
That is one reason I saw Oct as the low, because the pennies were putting in brand new lows - lower lows than in June. One usually sees these depressing washouts at bottoms of the cycle. The pennies that get wiped out then don't see any action until they see they all clear signs - which often don't happen until many of the majors have already seen 50% moves.
I don't fully understand some of the stock action in relation to the gold indices. For instance for the 2005 to 2006 rally, KGC was a laggard. Now it seems to be a leader. I have know idea why that is.

hi guys, came to scottsdale yesterday for a long weekend.
some thoughts:
yes i like smscs avatar as the poster child for this forum!
when the metals topped in jan 80, the shares continued higher for the next 8 months, and that was when the really big gains were made.
we are in a big wave 3 in the metals and miners, so rapid appreciation is the name of the game here.
i think most folks are looking for a pullback or correction, or the 560 lows to be taken out. fwiw, it looks to me like the lows are in. my take is we are in a parabolic and these last 6 months or so is a base to launch a move to 800s.
i had gfi and sold it for nak and mfn. decided to remain only in miners that are in n.america. problems will appear in other areas as we progress. its the nature of the beast.
dont be eager to part w/your shares, the next few months should be parabolic. and the longer the gold prices stay high, the more the producing miners will make! dharma

Anyone have any ideas about VGZ? I am at an impasse...should I hold on to all my shares? or Sell part?
I guess I not smart enough to figure out, if its going to bounce up after 11/7 fund raiser ends or what?
This "change" and funding caught its stock holders by surprise...
Any thoughts and analysis would be greatly appreciated.
Whadda I Do Whadda I Do

It depends on how long it takes VGZ to recoup its investment money. In this sector any long term hold should gain since we are in a young bull market. It depends if you want to hold until their mines produce.

Charmin:
I started looking into zinc plays when you mentioned EZM last week.
The price movements of zinc and lead are very bullish, I think there are both fundamental and technical reasons for zinc and lead to go even higher.
If someone can comment on zinc and lead, it will certainly help.
I did not buy LUN.TO because my account does not allow trading of Canadian shares. I bought TCK and BWLRF (BWR.TO) instead. Both of them have very low PE.
TCK sold yesterday probably because they earned 2.34 but the average target was 2.65. But in the note of the result announcement they said, because of bad weather they will book net income from SHIPPED product of $82 million in the next two quarters. This amounts to 38 cents per share and would have given them 2.72 for the quarter.
So technically they missed but the profit is there, it is just deferred. They also gave strong guidance for prices in the fourth quarter.
