QUOTE
Solar cycle 24, due to peak in 2010 or 2011 "looks like its going to be one of the most intense cycles since record-keeping began almost 400 years ago," says solar physicist David Hathaway of the Marshall Space Flight Center. He and colleague Robert Wilson presented this conclusion last week at the American Geophysical Union meeting in San Francisco.

Scientists predict big solar cycle.

The Big Aspects between Slow Moving Outer Planets

Jupiter square Uranus (1/3) January 22, 2007. Highly speculative. One of the three exact aspects will likely mark the top of the retrace from the summer 2002 - winter 2003 lows.

Saturn oppose Neptune (2/3) February 28, 2007. Conflict between reality and illusion. Crushed dreams.

Jupiter trine Saturn (1/5) March 16, 2007. A trine is a soft aspect and this is more harmonious. Usually positive business conditions with inflation contained.

Uranus square Pluto (6/7) December 15, 2014

Uranus square Pluto (7/7) March 17, 2015

For 2007, we need to focus on 3 passes of Jupiter square Uranus which is exact on January 22, May 10 and October 9. One of these passes may mark the top of the retrace from the 2002-3003 lows. Jupiter is expansive and Uranus is change. The combination is usually highly speculative. We saw this with Jupiter trine Uranus in November 2005, May 2006 and August 2006. Also with Jupiter oppose Uranus in August 2004. It is possible that this aspect plays out outside of the markets as r(rapid)evolutionary change, but I am assuming it will play out in the markets until proven otherwise.

Also passes 2 and 3 of Saturn square Neptune on February 28 and June 25. It represents conflict between reality and illusion or crushed dreams and will likely impact the housing market more than the equity market. So far it seems to have manifesting as "look we have no inflation".

It may also be playing out as worry and fear that may actually be feeding this extended rally. It is not the general population that is experiencing this. Rather it is a small subset of end-timers, environmentalists (global warming) and conspiracy theorists of different stripes. This kind of energy would have been expected closer to the year 2000 but was preempted by the Y2K mania.

The purpose here is not pass judgment on the beliefs of these groups, but rather to point out that the worry and fear may be fueling the markets in the same way that major disasters in the third world (earthquakes, tsunamis) fuel equities rallies by absorbing astro stress. As long as the focus of this worry and/or fear does not manifest as reality to the general public, the markets will continue to rise.

Another aspect of importance is Jupiter conjunct Pluto in December. Jupiter will cross the Galactic center in December (and Pluto will be there or pretty damn close for most of the year). This aspect has occurred at significant lows, but this time it could be a major top.

Keep in mind that the astro may well support prices into fall 2008 when Saturn oppose Uranus comes into play.

I am writing this during Christmas weekend, 2006.

The QQQQ has finally broken it's uptrend line on the weekly chart while the daily chart is entering Dover Sole territory. Mars square Uranus was in orb last Wednesday through Friday and was exact late Thursday night. It is often good for a down-draft and it didn't disappoint.

Things are quiet in terms of aspects between Christmas and New years and this quiet continues until Jupiter square Uranus comes into 2 degree orb around January 9 accompanied by Mars conjunct Pluto which can manifest as ruthless aggression and political arm-twisting. It can also manifest as a show of force by the controllers of US markets.

Bernie Schaeffer has been mailing an e-mailing teasers for a "January options explosion" package of 10 option trades to be entered in late December and closed in early January. He is expecting a year-end/start-of-year rally.

I am wondering whether too many are expecting a year-end rally for one to happen. It is possible that Jupiter square Uranus will invert and exaggerate a low.

Supportive Venus sextile Jupiter comes into play on January 11 followed by Venus conjunct Neptune comes on January 17 and Jupiter square Uranus is exact on January 22. Venus oppose Saturn is exact the day before and is usually negative in terms of market impact.

The astro in early February includes supportive Sun sextile Jupiter, Venus conjunct Uranus and Venus square Jupiter before Saturn oppose Neptune comes into 2 degree orb on February 11 preceded by negative Sun oppose Saturn and Sun conjunct Neptune (disappointment) by a few days.

There is also a Yod (Finger of God) between Saturn oppose Neptune and Venus sextile Mars that will linger for a few days. A Yod is an elongated triangle. In this case, Saturn is the point while Venus and Mars are positioned at the corners of the base.

This looks to me like boom/bust astro, but until we see how year-end 2006/start-of 2007 plays out, we have to consider that the boom may have already passed and early 2007 will just be a bust. We will have greater visibility in a couple of weeks.

Keep in mind that weekly charts can roll-over and recoup before finally turning over. They can also keep giving false sell signals as in the rise into the 199-2000 highs. This could set up a scenario where shorts get over-positioned too soon and we see the current rally extend with short-covering into speculative Jupiter square Uranus.

Cliff Droke is evidently feeling the pull of Jupiter square Uranus.

Richard Nolle's 2007 Forecast is well worth reading.

Ray Merirman's January 1, 2007 post had this to say about the Jupiter square Uranus and Saturn oppose Neptune:

QUOTE
Signatures of market reversals then arise January 8 through January 22 culminating in the first passage of the Jupiter-Uranus square in 2007. This signature, along with the Saturn-Neptune opposition, will be the astrological themes of what to expect in 2007. And what are they? Jupiter-Uranus in square, in mutable signs (Sagittarius and Pisces) i.e. unbridled enthusiasm and positive thought. The only problem is that it is typically not channeled in a way that everyone understands, and hence it may come across as “manic” (as in manic-depressive, an extreme optimism that is not grounded in a clear plan). The Saturn-Neptune opposition, however, can provide the “depressive” side to that condition, if one is not careful with one's attitude. In other words, the astrological energies are extremes of the spectrum in 2007.

Moon oppose Pluto was exact Tuesday morning (January 2) while most US markets were closed in honor of the late Pres. Gerald Ford. Pluto is conjunct the Galactic Center and that energy apparently carried over from the opposition into the Full Moon Wednesday morning (January 3).

We saw a big rally in the AM, but what Gerry giveth, Ben taketh. There was also an $8 billion repo pool drain for the day, but a mild decline off of the highs accelerated when the Fed Minutes came out around 2 pm. Venus was on the Midheaven at the time meaning a focus on value, but I don't think that by itself explains the sharpness of the decline and the bounce-back. The QQQQ had an intraday range greater than $1.50.

Gold advanced Tuesday and coincidently, it was the late Pres. Gerald Ford who legalized holding gold for Americans. On Wednesday it started lower, rebounded higher and took a big dive. The reaction by mining shares looks overdone.

Crude dropped $2.75 on the day for a net $4 drop since Tuesday morning. Copper also has resumed a decline. It looks like TBTP will be defending the USD and keeping a lid on oil, especially as high oil prices aid extremists in Iran and leaders such as Hugo Chavez in Venezuela. I don't think the China, Japan and other major energy/commodity consuming nations mind lower prices so they are probably tacitly supporting these efforts.

Mars conjunct Pluto comes into orb next week, but both with Pluto currently conjunct the Galactic Center and Mars probably close enough--the effects are already evident. Expect greater volatility. This does not imply direction. We will likely see more market psychodrama and it is best for both bulls and bears not to get complacent or self-confident. Expect to see political arm-twisting in play in the markets.

Wednesdays actions forced bears out of position, then forced bulls out of position and then reversed to nab bears who entered late.
anotherone
January 4:

Crude down over a $1. Looks to me the TPTB are focused on getting the price of oil down to cut funding for extremists in countries like Iran. There is probably tacit support from the House of Saud and other Sunni Muslim governments that fear Iranian power and were rattled by the timing of the Sadam Hussein execution and how it was conducted. As I already posted, China is probably also tacitly supporting a USD rescue and reduction in the price of crude. I'm sure they will enjoy lower crude prices.

I think crude is the primary target here, not gold. TBTB certainly don't want gold headed toward $700 too soon as that would raise inflation concerns and they don't want it to drop too far either as that would raise deflation concerns. I think that gold will be allowed to quietly rise at a rate that will not attract Main Street investors. that is probably the impact of Pluto conjunct the Galactic Center for gold. that also means be ready to hedge ahead of Pluto days and/or buy and the panic dips on some Pluto days.

We had a New Moon exact at 11 pm Thursday January 18 and price dropped sharply into that juncture, especially the NASDAQ which got mooned by Kramer. Price bounced a bit intraday Friday finishing essentially flat for the day which was also the close of op-ex week.

IBM reported after the close and got trounced. If I was a CEO, I would not be reporting on a new moon. The one exception is situation where a stock has been declining and I had one last dose of bad news I wanted to see priced in for a capitulation low.

QQQQ kissed the broken uptrend line on the weekly chart at the end of the first week of Janaury and dropped from there last week. It looks like a top is in on the weekly chart. On Monday January 22, negative Venus oppose Saturn is balanced by usually positive Mercury sextile Jupiter. Both are exact as is Jupiter square Uranus. Price may stay flat to slightly down early next week. After that, the astro is supportive through the first week of February so we may see price drift up to make a lower high on NASDAQ. For the DOW and SPX, it could be a higher high.

Sunday January 28 Comments:

5 hour (5 min bars) and 1 day (8min bars) turned down late in the day. 5 day (40 minute bars) faked turning up, but is due to do so Monday or Tuesday. The 13 day (105 minute bars) has morphed into a 4-week cycle and is trying to turn up.

With month-end this week it looks like the Pluto effect on Monday will be to drive price down in the AM to suck in bears then blast in up into month-end/start of month. There are $4 billion in 8 day repos out there that don't expire until Thursday. There are $6 billion in 3 days that expire on Monday and 5 billion in 14 days that expire on Thursday. The later are usually rolled over. The Fed is in a position to maintain liquidity into month-end.

If we do get a month-end rally the big players will probably be unloading into it.
