An initial push today which seems to be losing steam. All Ords +0.7% with IT in the lead, +2.1%. The only red sector is Consumer Staples -0.2%.

Miners are mostly up: BHP +1.8%, RIO +1.4%. Golds are less enthusiastic: Newcrest -0.4% and Newmont -2.5%.

In the oils, Woodside +0.5% and Santos +0.4%.

A classic expanding pattern developing on All Ords:

All Ords dwindled away to finish +0.1%. Materials and Energy, both +0.7%, were the top gainers and Consumer Staples fell further to finish -0.6%.

Pretty much a mixed message in the miners: BHP +1.5%, RIO +0.3% and both the major golds closed down more than a percent.

In the oils, Woodside came in at -0.5% and Santos +0.2%.

Asia mixed with Nikkers, Honkers and India dipping slightly.

Over to UK/Europe:

India's Industrial Production Growth Beats Estimates

June 12 (Bloomberg) -- India's industrial production grew more than expected in April, suggesting the central bank may need to raise interest rates further to contain inflation stoked by consumer demand.

Production at factories, utilities and mines gained 13.6 percent from a year earlier after a revised 14.5 percent in March, the Central Statistical Organisation said in a statement in New Delhi today. Economists expected an 11.3 percent rise.

China's Inflation Accelerates, Adding Rates Pressure

June 12 (Bloomberg) -- China's inflation accelerated to a more than two-year high in May as pork prices soared, increasing the likelihood that interest rates will be raised further in the world's fastest-growing major economy.

Consumer prices gained 3.4 percent from a year earlier, the National Bureau of Statistics said today. That was more than the 3.3 percent expected by economists. April's inflation rate was 3 percent, matching the central bank's 2007 target.

Australian Business Confidence Rises to Two-Year High

June 12 (Bloomberg) -- Australia's business confidence climbed to the highest level in more than two years in May, adding to signs of accelerating economic growth.

Strengthening business confidence prompted National Australia to boost its estimate for 2007 economic growth to 4 percent from 3 percent. Figures last week showed the economy expanded at the fastest pace in three years in the first quarter and the jobless rate fell to a 33-year low in May, suggesting the central bank may need to increase interest rates.

HBOS Says U.K. Mortgage Share, Lending Margin to Fall

June 12 (Bloomberg) -- HBOS Plc, Britain's biggest mortgage bank, said its share of the U.K. home-loan market will fall by half in the first six months of the year as it struggles to maintain profit margins.

Shares of the company dropped the most in three months after HBOS said its share of U.K. mortgage lending likely will decline to less than 10 percent from 21 percent in the first half of 2006. Pretax profit excluding one-time charges will increase to about 6 billion pounds ($11.8 billion), or 110.8 pence a share, in line with analysts' median estimate, HBOS said today in a statement.

Chief Executive Officer Andy Hornby aims to lessen HBOS's dependence on U.K. home loans amid increased competition and rising interest rates. Lending margins will decline this year from 1.78 percent last year, the Edinburgh-based bank said, as peers including Barclays Plc and Nationwide Building Society compete to win mortgage customers with lower interest rates.

I'm fully in cash in all three trading accounts now outside of my AMD short and Intel long. I took a moderate hit last week but didn't close out my position as I was fairly busy last week. I closed out everything (there wasn't that much) but the two semi positions and wil just watch for a little while.

I'm watching the Nifong prosecution on WRAL for the next few days and am busy with other stuff.

Should have clarified-- intraday tnx chart. I think yahoo has one. I'll check.

Based on those major trend signals last week, this will be the year bulls get their due.

It's easy to confuse trading acumen with bullishness at the end of a long bull market. Seems to me that some here may be suffering from that delusion.

NYX on buy zone.
Looks like a safe dong entry here.

Q-balls still hanging in there, but pattern looks pretty iffy. Crooks need to hold the line or risk a flush back to 45ish. That could send the Spooz back towards 1450ish.

Since getting above 46 back in late April, Q-balls have re-tested the 46 level four separate times in six weeks. That's not a very bullish sign and usually means the level will be busted sooner or later.

The 45ish level would likely be a good s/t buy opp if the Q's get smacked.

I do not know about you guys but the last 2 weeks I have been getting spam in different languages. Majority of it looks like Russian. I wonder if it had anything to do with the Russian assault on Estonia's Internet network. They spammed Estonia's Internet commerce and shut it down for a month.

Same old crap.

Bears are still gaming a crash.

WSJ reported today that a record 161,000 puts were bought on the XLF yesterday, expecting a LEH and GS Yearnings miss.

Both are going up today on heavy volume.

Still expecting some more backing and filling along the SPY 50-day which is right around 149.55

Otherwise, these two continue to grind up again, so another Epic Rally will be in store once this corretion is over.

When i look at that cluster of triangles superimposed on the candled roller coaster I begin to understand why some guys excell in picking mo-mo winners.

I'm thinking of someone like Simon of the Renessaince hedge fund--Hes a differntial geometer by education. He has hired dozens of Topologists,Probabalists and Statasticians of the highest grade--and then united them with Computer mavin in such a way as to have achived what the tunnel microscopists have done in biology and chemistry.

I/m convinced his outfit works on a microsecond scale at the penny level, and have discovered a set of curves enabling them to do what for stock picking was done years ago in physics, namely splitting the Atom...

I think your asessment of the market ,specifically the Bonds would be a little bit more persuasive if it was accompanied by some Wagnerian strains of "Der Gotterdamerung"---

I'm not kidding--only by enveloping the rather dusty stats with Wagner will you enable auditor's emotions to kick in and take some action

Two interesting tales Chronicled today: One in the Wash post straight out of the Annals of Crime and Rascality: It seems we have a monumental example of why economic justice is very difficult to achieve--

Barny Frank and some legislative companions wanted to give certain injured parties the right to sue enterprises (e.g, Merril Lynch) who were responsible for leading pension funds and others to Slaughterhouse Enron, one among many other places where financial sacrificial worship was tolerated...

Easy enough to accept aye??? Well think again...

The two sparring partners ,one ,taking a Moral position,SEC; the other, Treasury Department ,which is taking a criminally pragmatic position, are jointly creating a standoff...But its the position of treasury that's most interesting:they solemnllly swear that If you permit these criminals to be sued you'd wreak havoc on America's competitive position--

The lesson to be drawn:If you must commit a crime, do one of such magnitude that the government itself must compulsively become your partner...

The other, which Ill abbreviate, is the threat of McDonalds coffee brew to Starbucks: Word has it that Mac's brew is superior in taste to that of Stardollarsandcents...

--Ive been arguing over this with my associate for two years;and premature though I was , I think anyone can see, now that Kondratievv winter is here, the jeapordy of SB, is in....I mean,30,000 stores, billions of dolllars, food technologists up the ass and all you need to do is make a decent cuppa cofee????

At a super-competitive price and at a time when every luxury item is being margenalised---?????
