I was just wondering who uses the Miura blades. How would they compare to X-Forged? Have you noticed a differene between them and the irons you've had before? Thanks a lot. Just curious smile.gif

I just switched this year from X-forged to Muira blades. Absolutely love them. I was very pleased with my Callaways also. They were the first cavity back I had played, but I liked them due to their look (little offset, etc). I had always been a blade player before (Titleist, Mizuno, MacGregor). The reason I switched back to blades is that I just missed the playability. These new Muiras are easier for me to hit specific distances - working the ball was never an issue with the Callaways. These just have better feel that translates into better distance control for me. I also went with them because they had such a fine reputation for being spot on to spec for head weight, etc. They were. They also had the asthetics I wanted - thin top line, negligable offset, etc.

All in all I am very pleased with them.

Played the Miura blades for quite some time and have hit more than my fair share of balls with the X-Forged. Both are fantastic clubs, but I had a bit lower ball flight with the Miuras, honestly though, I don't think you can go wrong either way. The Miuras certainly have leaner profile though.

I was playing the Miura Tournament Blades for about a half year. I just sold them, but not because I didn't like them, just picked up a new set (forged by Miura, of course) and I couldn't justify to my wife any reason to keep both. They feel superb. Soft as butter and a thin top line that I love. The Callaways will be a lot more forgiving, but there is nothing like the feel of a perfectly hit blade, and the Miura's take it to another level. I agree that you can't go wrong with either. But my suggestion is to go with the Miuras. The best forging and feeling. Just accept the fact that you will lose more distance on mishits than on the Callaways and you will love them.

Been playing this silly game for over 25 yrs and played just about every iron made for leftys.I can say my miuras are by far the best irons i have played. This will be my 4th season with them.

Something else to look at is the Miura CB 202 (Cavity Back), they are forged, nearly the same lines as the Blade but with some forgivness. I'm playing a set and love them, they have a Nippon Tour Shaft which is a great set up. Before I bought them I looked up everything I could on them and couldn't find anything negative as the one poster stated.

I own many sets of irons (HO till the death I guess) and my Miura CB-201's/Tour Concept S3's are without question the finest set I've ever gamed. I too am a big blade guy but the Miura players CB's are extremely blade like both on the topline and in the feel department. If you have the financial ability to treat yourself to Miura do it and enjoy! My suggestion; consider Nippon 1150's or Tour Concept to go with that steak!

I'm looking to buy some new irons NEXT season, and from everything I've read, it seems like Miura Tournament Blades (Retro Version like the ones in the lefty's pic) are exactly what I'm looking for. Can anyone tell me how much a set of these (4-PW), w/ PX 6.5 shafts, would run me? Max. I would spend on irons is probably $1200, so I hope they're within that range. If not then I'll probably go with either the new J36 Blades or if Callway brings out a retail version of their proto blades, then maybe those.

From what I have read, this should be about the range for a set. You can find them used for less on the bay a couple of time a month usually.

But, if you can find them, the OnOff 247s are forged by Miura and they feel better than the tournament blades. But these irons are typically significantly more than $1200. I actually went from the Tournament Blades to the tour version of the 247.

You rang?

I owned the cb 201's for about 2 weeks & I hated every swing I made with them.

Faults:

1) The hosel is welded which makes bending a real chore. Forged irons are usually good for at least 3-4 deg before the chrome starts to crack & these were not like bending a mizuno, hogan or even a x forged. I went 2 deg & they felt like they were going to snap.

2) The turf interaction of these clubs was terrible, I don't like a lot of bounce (my x forged are bent strong) but these were ridiculous. Long irons dug, mid irons dug, short irons dug, wedge...

3) 8-pw bad.gif

4) 8-pw seriously WTFITS

5) Feel was less than satisfactory with this set, although other miuras like the x-300 fci, tm 300 & rac cb felt better.

6) Cost, availability, lack of demos...

pros:

1) Bag bling due to cost, availability, lack of demos...

2) resale value

I think that I've posted this before -- in the 201 and 202s -- 8-PW are more rounded than the rest of the set -- the 8i transition is poor. I understand that the 202s have a better sole grind for less digging.

Some additional food for thought based on this comments above....

The 201's are not designed for soft turf conditions.... the new 202's are ...so the turn interaction problem with the 201's is gone.

As for the welded hosel...it is done for presition forging of the head and hosel separately... it does not affect the club at all... only adds to the precision. There is a really good thread on here that explains that. I have built and bend hundreds of Miura sets and have yet to come close to breaking a hosel, and once bent they hold their specs...

Yes the topline of the 8-PW are more rounded but they are not ugly... you get used to them and when you see the way you can score with them, you forget about it really quick.

When you golf, you use one club at a time...so you aren't comparing the topline of one club to another when you play. If you focus on the topine instead of the ball...you'll probably miss anyway.... tongue.gif

Since playing the Miura 202's I have shot the best golf in my life... I have build many sets for top amatures and touring pros that all swear by them....
