ocgolfpro
Nice picks

Ideas as to what shafts he is using in his clubs ?

On the Callaway website the new X tours should be launched by 15th February. Any idea where it is possible to pre order ?

Regards,

Olivier

Is that a 54* or a 64* wedge? I recall in golf digest a few years ago that he was carrying one, but i didnt think he still was.
ryegolfer
In the coverage yesterday, they said he was playing a 54* sand wedge.
ericld
No, he was def playing the FT-5 Watched closely and Tivo'ed every swing. There were some closeups of his driver. FT-5 all the way - Tadd was playing it too.

What putter is that odyssey?
JKB
Odyssey Black Swirl Prototype Milled Putters.. I think he was the first player to use one
Rounder
The shaft in his FT-5 is the new ozik xcon painted black, supposedly. Yahoo pictures have a shot of his driver and it is definitely an ozik of some sort.

He was experimenting with heavy 95-110g wood shafts for fairways at leadbetter's this winter, but i don't know what he put in play.

Didnt Chucky change coaches away from Leadbetter ?

If he did then that would explain the second place finish cheesy.gif
evoviiiyou
I have a question? I wonder if CH3 applied the lead tape himself to his Prototype X Forged or did he have the Callaway guys do it?

in his irons he has TT DG and orange golf pride decade grips and same for driver and woods but i am not sure of his shafts, also his fairways are x fairways

I believe he went back to Leadbetter...
lilgolfer17
he did go back to leadbetter, they mentioned it on the telecast yesterday...

Poor Charly again. He was really hot yesterday. Unbeatable Tiger.

Im sure a win for CH3 is on its way for this year. Why not bet some money on him at Augusta at his roots.

Cheers all
j12hmp
His three wood shaft is Aldilla NV 105 x. Saw him hitting it at Sony.
ZealousGolfer
He's going to need a new 8 iron after that shot off the cartpath. I was surprised he didn't hit something lower and try to run it up onto the green instead of flirting with the trees. Who knows? He has a big victory in one of the year's strongest fields.

Congratulations CH3!!! Great playoff against Mickelson.

Agreed, I was cringing with every practice swing, I could just imaging my bad boys getting all messed up shok.gif I'm sure if I was getting free clubs and playing for $$$ I wouldn't care what I hit them off.

I was so happy for CH3, but I don't think that's how you want to win a playoff, Par/Bogey. It's definately sweeter to win Birdy/Par. But I'm sure he's not going to be complaining at all smile.gif
tmac7592
it was a wedge, you could see the vintage finish and how worn down it was
tmac7592
also his FW's are x hots 3 and 5 with aldila 105x

Definately X-Series Fairway Woods, but he's sporting the Fusion Covers, just like he had an FT-I Cover on a FT-5 Driver. Means nothing.
tmac7592
yea they are protos the x hot 5 wood, i wish i had one, you can even see it when he plays
Paul Stewart Jones
Apparently he didnt like the look of the FT-i, he said it looked too square!
TheRawEdge
He hit a wedge off the cart path. He should have used the 8 iron to keep under the bush in front of him. The irons are the X-Forged....not the new 2007 X-Tours. I believe both irons will remain in the current line up from Cally. As for the fairways.....I couldn't tell if they were the X-Hots, or just the X series but they do indeed have Aldila NV 105 shafts and his FT-5 Tour driver has an OZIK TP-7x in it.
bahman
im pretty sure i heard the commentators say he used a Pitching Wedge

was cringing, he was hitting the concrete on both his practise shots...

umm, in the WITB pictures above, is that led tape on his wedges?
tmac7592
the xtours are done, no more, once theey are out of stock there will be no way to get them new anymore, and the reaons i know the fws are x hot is because it says it on the cally site

2007 Nissan Open:

FT-5 - 9.0°
X Faiway Wood
FT Hybrid - 20°
X Forged Irons
Odyssey Tour Milled #1
HX Tour Ball
tmac7592
he is using a hybrid now, i saw the thing on the cally site about his favorite club being the ft hybrid, i guess he dropped the x hot 5 wood
Uno
i dont know why his Black Series is brown. Both black series putters i own are really beautiful. If mine turns that color i will throw a fit. Could just be the light though.
Tiger8
Hybrid is also shafted with a Matrix, not sure which one.

What is CH3 using for an alignment aid?

frank-the-tank
ArchangelGT
According to Golf Digest CHIII had these in the bag at the Nissan:

Ball: Callaway HX Tour
Driver: Callaway FT-5, 9 degrees
3-wood: Callaway X
Hybrid club: Callaway FT, 20 degrees
Irons (3-PW): Callaway X-Forged
Wedges: Callaway X-Tour (54, 60 degrees)
Putter: Odyssey Black Series 1
Irridium
curious on the aid too
tmac7592
interesting to see a 20 hybrid and 3 iron,i do the same but distance is close, wonder why he does it,i guess the same reason as me, it works

The aligment aid is what we northerners refer to as, "plow sticks" and they can be had at Home Depot for under $2.00 a piece. They seem to work really well, you can use them for alignment, stick them in the ground to check swing plane, I keep two of them in my bag while at the range. Typically to check both alignment and ball placement:

Thanks!

What is the real name of the "plow sticks"?
